Nursing staff are increasingly being attacked by intoxicated or confused patients, and sometimes even by aggressive relatives. If the nurse is alone, help must be provided quickly. In many cases, it is difficult or even impossible to make an emergency call by telephone. In such situations, Wi-Fi can be an important ally – thanks to RTL (Real Time Location). Whereas nursing staff used to have to pick up the phone, dial a number, and report their location in an emergency, they can now use an RTL system and a pager to trigger an emergency call in a fraction of a second via a pull switch. Colleagues informed via Wi-Fi can see exactly where the alarm was triggered, down to within a meter. This allows them to immediately focus their attention on the emergency situation.
